Recreational camping traces its roots to the late 1800s and one imagines that camp wood purveyors cannot have been far behind. The camp wood business is both timeless and competitive. At its base is the bundle of wood for tonight’s campfire.
But what is your campfire for? Cooking? Telling stories? Will you need kindling? Hardwood or soft? Do you have cash? PayPal? Venmo?
There are more than a dozen campgrounds on Mount Desert Island with over 1200 sites, and all those sites need wood — camp wood.
The Camp Wood project memorializes camp wood purveyors on MDI with a set of 10 fine art postcards.
