These images were made at the Somes-Meynell Wildlife Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is a 250 acre preserve protecting the watershed of Somes Pond, home to alewives, eels and loons. What captivated me about the Sanctuary is the small island at the center of the pond, which is visible from the road and resembles nothing so much as a schooner.

Images for this project were made over the course of a year, always from the same vantage point. The resulting 303 images were then assembled into 12 photo montages, one for each month of the year.
